The New Community Project
The New Community Project (NCP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and social justice. Their mission is to provide resources that challenge societal norms, offer transformative experiences, and foster a community rooted in hope and action.
What They Do
- Experiential Learning – NCP organizes Learning Tours to places like the Ecuadorian Amazon and South Sudan, immersing participants in different cultures and ecosystems to deepen their understanding of global issues.
- Earth Care – Through their “Two (!) Million Tree Campaign,” they aim to plant two million trees over ten years, providing fruit, medicine, firewood, and carbon capture that benefits both people and the planet.
- Peace through Justice – Programs like “Give a Girl a Chance” help girls in Nepal’s Chepang community stay in school beyond fifth grade, reducing the risk of early marriage or trafficking.
- Sustainable Living Centers – With facilities in Vermont and Virginia, NCP models ecological practices like organic gardening, low-energy technologies, and forest preservation.
Why Prince of Peace Supports NCP
- Alignment with Our Values – NCP’s commitment to justice, peace, and environmental care reflects the heart of our congregation’s faith and mission.
- Educational Opportunities – Their tours and teaching tools offer unique ways for our members—especially youth—to grow in compassion and awareness of global needs.
- Tangible Impact – Every tree planted and every girl empowered through education is a visible, lasting result of the support we can offer.
Partnering with the New Community Project offers Prince of Peace a meaningful way to live out our faith in action—addressing urgent global challenges while encouraging a spirit of service, justice, and stewardship right here at home.
